NOC Seeks Volunteers in Sun City
On Saturday, April 24, 2010, Sun City of Hilton Head, held its annual Volunteer Recognition Day. NOC, along with 30 other non-profit organizations, had an opportunity to speak with residents of Sun City at this festive event. Many residents were eager to learn about NOC and about opportunities to volunteer in the Greater Bluffton Area. A number of individuals from Sun City have already participated in NOC’s outreach programs in Hilton Head Island.NOC Celebrates Volunteers Day
NOC hosted a social event to recognize the
outstanding contributions of the volunteers without whom NOC could not successfully implement its outreach programs in Hilton Head Island and Greater Bluffton. More than 50 people, including children, participated in this event, which was held on April 19, 2010, at the Oaks Community Center.
NOC Hosts Medicaid Benefits Workshop
Women and children at the Oaks gathered at the Community Center on April 7 to learn about Medicaid benefits. The presentation was designed to assist families in the neighborhood in understanding and taking advantage of Medicaid benefits for their children, and to help them fill out the necessary forms to obtain Medicaid benefits.
Girl Scouts at the Oaks
The first Girl Scout troop at the Oaks has been in full swing
since February, 2010. Implemented by NOC in partnership with the Girl Scouts, the troop was formed following an initial planning meeting held on Feb 19, 2010 at the Oaks Community Center.
