
NOC Partners in Bike Safety Workshop
NOC partnered with Hilton Head Fire and Rescue to offer a bike safety workshop on April 11. Cinda Seamon, Public Education Officer for Hilton Head Fire and Rescue, along with Captain John Gill, Fire Fighter Guy Sticht, and Frank Babel from Squeaky Wheels, a bicycle advocacy group, offered bike safety tips, fitted bikes with safety reflectors, and donated bike helmets to the children who attended.

NOC Offers Tax Filing Assistance
NOC partnered in March with VITA (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) and USCB (University of South Carolina-Beaufort), to bring in IRS trained professionals to help residents of Oaks Apartments to complete income tax returns for 2009 electronically.
NOC Holds Community Improvement Workshop
NOC implemented its first Community Improvement Workshop
on March 17, at Oaks Apartments complex. More than 40 persons participated in this successful workshop led by Mario Martinez, a prominent leader in the Hispanic community.

NOC’s Strategic Goals for 2010
NOC’s Board of Directors has approved six strategic goals for the organization, focusing on broadening and deepening its outreach programs, building its volunteer pool, raising capital, expanding partnerships with community service providers, and strengthening its Board’s effectiveness.
