NOC Seeks Volunteers in Sun City

On Saturday, April 24, 2010, Sun City of Hilton Head, held its annual Volunteer Recognition Day. NOC, along with 30 other non-profit organizations, had an opportunity to speak with residents of Sun City at this festive event. Many residents were eager to learn about NOC and about opportunities to volunteer in the Greater Bluffton Area. A number of individuals from Sun City have already participated in NOC's outreach programs in Hilton Head Island.This event, hosted by Sonny Dixon of WTOC in Savannah, honored those individuals who volunteer in Sun City as well as in surrounding communities and ended with an Awards Ceremony that evening at Magnolia Hall. Dana Gilbert, Field Director for NOC, was interviewed by Sonny Dixon.
As NOC prepares to open a Program Center in Bluffton,
there will be more opportunities for people in Sun City to volunteer in neighborhoods such as Vista View, White Oaks, Hallmark Apartments, Bluffton House, and Simmons Cay Apartments. These neighborhoods account for more than 500 dwelling units and more than 5,000 people.
