NOC launched the first Basic English class in Bluffton at Vista View Apartments on Wednesday, May 11. Dennis Adams, NOC Board Secretary and Emilio Anchorena, NOC Field Team Member, led the class in lively, bi-lingual conversation. Ten students, all young mothers, enjoyed learning new skills.
When asked what they liked about the class, they replied, "The icebreakers were helpful and the class was relaxed, which made it easier to learn new words and pronunciations. Learning English helps us when we're looking for items at the store. We learned four interesting new words today, and we learned the difference between similar sounds such as "ch, sh/th and t." We're going to form a study group, so we can learn faster and help each other with our homework."
