NOC has received two grants, totaling $16,000, to expand its outreach programs to help people in need.  The Coastal Community Foundation of South Carolina has awarded NOC a grant of $8,000 to support NOC's outreach programs in Hilton Head Island and Greater Bluffton. The grant will allow NOC to broaden and deepen its outreach programs relating to education, health care, and workforce development. NOC will use the grant funds to replicate existing outreach programs that have been highly successful in targeted neighborhoods in Hilton Head Island and Greater Bluffton. NOC will intensify its efforts to establish new outreach programs in Greater Bluffton.

NOC also received $8,000 from the Beaufort County Alliance for Human Services to expand its outreach programs in partnership with other Alliance members, including local government agencies and not-for-profit organizations dealing with community services and development. The alliance for Human Services wants NOC to expand its successful outreach programs to other areas of Beaufort County.   NOC will chair the Alliance's special committee dealing with issues relating to children in poverty in Beaufort County.   The Alliance's special interest in NOC stems from NOC's mission ("Fighting Poverty") and its focus on development of the individual, development of the family/household, and development of the community. NOC's outreach programs in distressed neighborhoods contribute to the goals of "Together for Beaufort" that are supported by the Alliance for Human Services.
