New Directions: An Education Program for Women

NOC is partnering with the Healing Haven Institute, Inc. to launch a
pilot program in Sandalwood Terrace Apartments in Hilton Head Island. Through its education program, the Healing Haven Institute, Inc. provides "support for victims of domestic abuse; enabling them to stop the cycle of violence and to lead confident, successful and empowered lives."
Narendra Sharma, Chair, NOC, and Dana Gilbert, NOC's Field Director, met with Healing Haven's Chair, Janice Barnwell, and Board member, Linda Archinaco, on June 29 to define a broad framework for the pilot program and a timetable for moving forward. The pilot program for this education program will target 5 to 7 women, with special attention on building self-esteem and confidence, and promoting leadership and development through women. Participants in this pilot program will have the opportunity to take relevant classes and activities sponsored by NOC for skills development and recreation.
