Greetings!

As 2009 is coming to an end, I am happy to report that this has been a great year for NOC.We have made great strides in implementing our mission to fight poverty and to help those who are in need and those who are economically insecure. Our underlying philosophy of taking development support directly into neighborhoods is generating results in education programs and health care. Our Program Center at Oaks is  being productively utilized to deliver outreach activities. We are gaining the confidence and trust of the people we are serving and, more importantly, we are gaining the respect of many other service providers with whom we are partnering to help people. We have received funds from several organizations and support from many volunteers to implement our mission and outreach programs. The NOC brand is increasingly recognized within our local community and among not-for-profit organizations.
 
These achievements would not be possible without the support and dedication of many of you who have worked diligently to move the organization forward in getting results on the ground. For this I am deeply indebted to many of you, including NOCís Board of Directors and the Executive Committee. Together, we are making a difference and can continue to make a difference in the lives of many people as we broaden and deepen our outreach programs in other distressed neighborhoods. We must continue our focus on the development of the individual, the family, and the community. This we should do with dedication and commitment while adhering to our core values of integrity, compassion, and hard work.

I am confident that 2010 will be a great year for NOC. But our challenges will be huge, given the state of the economy.   Many people have lost their jobs and many are underemployed. Many have no access to health care or opportunities to develop new skills and knowledge to enter the workforce and find jobs when the economy improves. We must and we can respond to this challenge.

This is also an important period of the year as we celebrate the holidays with our family and friends. I wish you good luck during this holiday season and hope the coming year will be filled with good health, happiness, and prosperity for all of you.
